BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards

I am absolutely blown away to be a finalist in the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards in the category “Inspire”.

I have always written candidly about the highs and lows of life, in particular my motherhood journey. I battled with a colicky baby with allergies and reflux, and this led to post-natal depression. I have always been honest about this journey in a bid to help normalise mental health and also to make other mothers feel less alone when experiencing similar feelings and situations.

My life took an unexpected and terrifying turn at the beginning of this year when I was bedbound and in debilitating pain, eventually being diagnosed with a progressive lifelong illness that has no cure; psoriatic arthritis. Adjusting to life with a disability has been a journey, one that I know I am very much at the beginning of. Things are much more optimistic now, and whilst I am still trialling different medications to find the right one for me, I feel a lot more positive about my future. I added a section to my blog called “Living Well” in a bid to document my journey, and to push myself to take these bitter lemons that life has dealt me and turn them into something resembling lemonade (pink, of course).

If I can use my little platform to raise awareness for autoimmune diseases, and continue building a safe space and community for others then that is exactly my goal.

Thank you so much if you nominated me, and if you’d like to vote for me then click here. I honestly cannot put into words what this means to me – you guys are awesome.
